Do you find our group useful?

Would you like to contribute to our community?

We do not have formal membership, but there are several ways that you can participate:
  • Donate some of your time to help with the meetings.
  • Donate some of your money to help pay for the use of the church.
  • Meet with one of the teachers for a more personal guide to your meditation practice.

Volunteering your Service

As a volunteer organization, we rely on the active support of participants to create the space conducive to meditation practice and classes. Each week volunteers are needed to greet visitors, set up the space, lead the meditation and close up. Please contribute as you are able. Speak to the Coordinator to volunteer.

Here is a summary of the volunteer positions:

Greeter: Welcomes newcomers. Sits near the door to orient new people and direct them to their seats.

Set up: Arrives at least 25 minutes early to open and set up the room with chairs and cushions.

Take down: Stacks chairs, puts away cushions and practice materials.

Timer: Sits in front and leads the meditation

Audio recorder: Creates an audio file of class to be posted online.

Here is a summary of the coordinator roles:

Coordinator: Trains and coordinates volunteers. Orients new members.

Church liaison: Interfaces with church office. Maintains WBMG Google Group.

Contributing Financially

First Parish of Waltham Unitarian Universalist church provides The Waltham Buddhist Meditation Group with a beautiful space to meet each week. Because of this support, we don’t have to rent outside space. The church also provides money for other expenses (such as website support). We would like to repay them for their generosity by donating money to help with their general expenses. Financial contributions are always voluntary but greatly appreciated.

There are several ways you can donate money for the support of our group:
  • Leave your cash contribution in the basket at the entrance to the Chapel.
  • Leave a check in the basket at the entrance to the Chapel.
  • Donate on a monthly basis via EFT (electronic funds transfer).

Donation by check

Please make the check out to First Parish in Waltham and write WBMG in the memo line.
Please leave the check in the basket – do not mail it to First Parish.

Donation by EFT

To set up a regular monthly donation to First Parish, please print out this Authorization Form, sign it, attach a voided check, and mail it to the church office. Donations will be withdrawn from your bank account on the 10th of the month. Please make sure the form arrives in the office one week before the 10th of the month, to allow for processing and set up time for first time EFT donations.
